An Exceptional Community

Over the next eight years, California Military Communities will build 715 new homes in four different neighborhoods for soldiers and their families. This ambitious construction effort will replace many of Irwin's older homes and will significantly reduce the waiting list for family housing. Each new home will be at least 1,650 square feet and will feature a spacious great room, an upgraded kitchen, at least three large bedrooms, generous interior storage space, and a two-car garages.

In addition to these beautiful, new homes, these new neighborhoods at Fort Irwin will include amenities such as parks, tot lots, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, a town center, a large community center, and a neighborhood center.

Crackerjack Flats

Our first new neighborhood is Crackerjack Flats. The construction site on the south side of Barstow Road will soon be a new village of 241 CGO homes. Amenities will include a neighborhood center, a large green park, basketball courts, tot lots and a playground. The Silver Valley Unified School District will also build a new intermediate elementary school in the neighborhood. The first families will move in to Crackerjack Flats in the summer of 2005.

Community Center

A new 25,000-square-foot community center will be built in the future Sandy Basin neighborhood. This grand facility will feature a large formal ballroom, a Mediterranean-inspired courtyard, a new Housing Welcome Center, a Teen Center, and a large resort-style pool and splash park.

Irwin Town Center

The intersection of Langford Lake and Goldstone Roads will be rebuilt as the Irwin Town Center. The focus of this mixed-use urban village will be Main Street, with over 22,000 square feet of retail including a bookstore, coffee and ice cream store, packaging and mailing store, day spa, military clothing and sales store, dental clinic, and two restaurants.

The town center will also feature 200 new one-bedroom apartments for senior unaccompanied soldiers. Each residence will be approximately 550 square feet and feature a large living area, well-equipped kitchen, separate bedroom, and washers/dryers.
